The Mountain District Calisthenic Competition runs from Friday 5 August until Sunday 18 September 2016 and takes place at the Kel Watson Theatre, Forest Hills College, Mahoney’s Rd, Burwood East. Session programs can be downloaded from the Mt District website, www.mtdistrictcc.com/programs.html

The Northern District Calisthenic Competition starts on Saturday 6 August and runs until Sunday 11 September 2016. This competition is held in the Penola Catholic College Performing Arts Centre, Gibson Street, Broadmeadows. The Mountain District Competition was first run by Mrs Vera Hopton from a hall in Ferntree Gully, and later, for over 30 years, by Mrs Bev Gaudion, assisted by Wendy Daniel, then by Katrina Berryman. As the competition grew, it was held at various venues including Ringwood and Ashwood High Schools. Mr Kel Watson invited the competition to be the first permanent booking in his new theatre at the Forest Hill Secondary College, which has been the home of the Mt District Competition ever since.

Mt. District Competition Convenor, Katrina Berryman said, “The 2016 competition promises to be better than ever as we have more teams entering and very few split sessions. We are also benefiting from recent improvements at the Kel Watson Theatre including some new seating and dressing rooms facilities. Our fantastic team of volunteers once again look forward to welcoming audiences to Kel Watson and to a fun and friendly competition season.”

The Northern District competitions has been running for 31 years. The original conveners of the Northern Competition were Liz Williams and Margaret Herrod, and both are still active volunteers today. The competition changed to the Northern Districts Competition in 2001, when Margaret Sprague, Vanessa Patterson and Toni Sprague took over as conveners.

Northern District Competition Co-Convener, Vanessa Patterson, said, “We look forward to welcoming everyone to Northern Districts this year, and watching wonderful performances by the competitors. The Committee would like to thank our dedicated volunteers and families who help bring this competition together. The famous Northern Districts canteen will be available for all sessions. Stage lighting and Digital Light Projection (DLP) has also been provided for all sections.”

Mountain District Competition ticket prices are:
• $17 per adult per session;
• $13 concession session;
• $7 Child (16 years and under) per session; and a
• $30 Day Pass.

Car parking is limited and at the Mt District Competition, and the competition is recommending families to carpool when possible. Additional parking will be available at the far end of the school oval, please follow the signs. A canteen is available and lunch order forms will be offered for competitors and coaches to maximise time during breaks.

Northern District Competition ticket prices are:
• Adults (17 years and over)$18.00 per session;
• Concession session $14.00;
• Children (16 years and over) $7.00 per session;
• Coaches with VCCA card $7.00; and
• NDCC Badges $10.00

There is ample parking available at the Northern Competition, within the school grounds close to the Performing Arts Centre.

The CVI marketing team will be attending the Mt District Competition on Saturday 6 August, to film the Division 10 Sub Junior Sections, and the Northern Competition on Sunday 14 August, to film the Division 10 and 11 Juniors as a part of the 2016 Team Competition season promotion.
