We are past the halfway mark of the 2017 Solo and Duo Competition Season with competitors competing at the Ballaarat Solo Competition and Bayside Solo Competition this weekend.

The Ballaarat Solo Competition is celebrating 25 years of competitions and ten years at the Wendouree Centre for Performing Arts (WPCA). Over 550 competitors will perform at the WCPA and 1870 Founders Hall, Federation University Mt Helen Campus.

Convenor Julie Wiseman said, “I have been the convenor for the last 6 years and in that time the competition has gone from 282 competitors to over 550. Our sincere thanks go to all of the dedicated volunteers from our local Ballarat clubs, Jayde, Sovereign and Studio Arc.”

Renamed in 2005 to the original spelling of Ballarat with an extra “a” to reconnect the competition with the history of the town – the Ballaarat Solo Competition is also the major sponsor of the Ballaarat Cali Solo at RSSS and contributes a portion of the profits back into the wider Ballarat community.

The Bayside Solo Competition will be held in the George Jenkins Theatre, Cranbourne Community Theatre and Patterson River Secondary College. With a record 730+ competitors, the Bayside Solo Competition is celebrating the continual growth and expansion of venues in 2017.

Competition Convenor Debra Woolard says, “Good luck to all of our competitors this weekend! Thank you to all the support and volunteers from the Chelsea Calisthenics Club. We love being able to provide an opportunity for calisthenics participants to compete.”
