The Victorian Competition Committee (VCC) and Calisthenics Victoria Inc have been working hard to improve the experience of solo and duo participants and their families.

In 2017, there will be an additional solo and duo competition held in the Western Metropolitan region in order to:
• Broaden competition locations
• Reduce the travel time for families
• Assist with the growing number of solo and duo entries

Further details about the new Western Metropolitan region solo and duo competition will be released in the coming weeks.

Calisthenics Victoria CEO Matthew Brown says, “The VCC and CVI recognise that the length of the solo and duo competition season and the distance many families have to travel can limit participation. With the introduction of a new competition in the Western suburbs and more competitions sharing the same weekends, this will help to alleviate these issues.”

The revised schedule (introduced in 2016) delivers a condensed solo season and allows soloists and coaches to focus fully on their team work from an earlier date. This also supports Clubs to hold camps and dress and stage rehearsals at an earlier time of year.
To ensure the increasing number of solo and duo participants are accommodated at competitions, six (6) competitions will share three dates in 2017, they are:

• Peninsula and Western District Competitions – will run concurrently over the weekend 17 – 19 March
• Bayside and Ballaarat Competitions – will run concurrently over the weekend of 31 March – 2 April; and
• The VCCA Graceful and South Eastern Competitions – will run concurrently over the weekend of 15-17 April.

Solo and duo participants can only enter one competition on a shared weekend with the exception of South Eastern and VCCA as these competitions only offer one discipline of solos. This means that participants will need to decide which competition they enter on a shared weekend. New regulations have been introduced stating that participants may not enter two competitions on TryBooking with the intention of withdrawing from one at a later date. The purpose is to ensure scheduling is unaffected by late withdrawals which greatly affect competition running times. CVI recognise that scheduling changes frustrate our members and we have listened to you. This new system will help to reduce the number of schedule changes that occur and improve administrative processes for Victorian solo and duo competitions.

All solo and duo competition entries will open 1 January 2017 via TryBooking. Links will be available on the CVI Website here http://bit.ly/2hqIMsD. Please note each competition closing dates as they vary.
